Project: Conservation and Management of Huntable Birds in Europe

Contributing to a better understanding of migratory Palearctic birds and their habitats at different periods of the annual cycle is one of the main purposes of the association. Armed with experience, OMPO has embarked on a major project entitled "Conservation and Management of Huntable Birds in Europe" the purpose of which is to document as accurately as possible the conservation status and managment methods of the huntable bird species listed in Part A of Annex II to the Birds Directive 2009/147 / EC.

Participation of OMPO in the second international symposium on Algerian ornithology

The second international symposium on Algerian ornithology took place at the University of Oum El-Bouaghi near Constantine from 16 to 20 November 2012.

The symposium attracted a few hundred participants including eight foreign scientists called upon to intervene on various topics (see program).

11th Session of the Conférence of Contracting Parties to the Ramsar Convention

The 11th Session of the Conférence of Contracting Parties to the Ramsar Convention was held in Bucharest (Romania) from 6 to 13 July 2012. OMPO was represented at this important event by Patrick Triplet, the OMPO Project Manager for Africa, member of the French delegation.

Workshop for the Meeting of the Parties to AEWA


On12 and 13 May 2012 in La Rochelle a workshop took place prior to the Meeting of the Parties to AEWA. This workshop which concerned Africa reviewed for amendment the AEWA Action Plan for Africa which then will be submitted to the Meeting of the Parties.

Czajkowski Alexandre and Patrick Triplet were attending this workshop for OMPO and Jacques Trouvilliez on behalf of the French government. Patrick Triplet co-hosted a workshop on the necessary increase in knowledge.

 

Training in the reception of the visitors of the protected areas in Africa

 

 

October 24 – 28, 2011

This training of 12 trainees in the reception of the visitors of the protected areas in Senegal was organized within the scope of the convention concluded between OMPO and an Italian development aid structure: CISV (Comunità Impegno Servizio Volontariato). Having no trainers specialized in ecoguiding, CISV entrusted OMPO with the training of agents mastering the problems  related to their sites.
